Swing Dance

It started in the late 1920s, kids in Harlem figuring out how to move to this hot new music called Jazz. By the 30's there were all kinds of it, and all kinds of ways you could dance to it. By the 1940s, jazz was our music, and swing was our dance.

It might be hoppin' like crazy, flyin' like Lindy, or smooth like syncopated silk.
So come on out on the floor, get connected, motivate those pedal extremities, and Swing!
Swing dancing covers a lot of musical territory, from the big-bands to rythym and blues to rock and roll. Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Peggy Lee, Dinah Washington, Nat King Cole, Louis Prima, the Rat Pack, Elvis, Lou Rawls, and a hundred other artists new and old.
